Privacy Policy & Terms of Use

Effective Date: [November 26th,2025]

At Carry the Cross Foundation, a Christian nonprofit dedicated to providing compassionate care, spiritual companionship, and support to elderly men and women—especially those forgotten by systems or denied insurance—we honor the trust placed in us by treating your personal information with the utmost respect and dignity, reflecting Christ's love for the vulnerable (Matthew 25:40). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information on our website (carrythecrossfoundation.org) and related services. By using our site, you consent to these practices.

1. Information We Collect

We collect limited personal information to fulfill our mission of helping seniors in their golden years. This may include:

  • Contact Information: Name, email address, phone number, and mailing address (e.g., from donation forms, volunteer sign-ups, prayer requests, or contact inquiries).
  • Donation and Payment Details: Billing information for one-time or recurring gifts (processed securely via third-party providers like PayPal or Stripe).
  • Demographic Data: Age, location, or preferences (voluntarily provided to tailor support, such as matching volunteers to seniors).
  • Usage Data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and device information (via cookies or analytics tools like Google Analytics).
  • Sensitive Health Data: Rarely, if shared voluntarily in support requests (e.g., for advocacy with partners like Aviator Home Health), we handle it with extra care but do not store it long-term.
  • We do not collect information from children under 13, and our services are not directed at minors.

2. How We Collect Information

  • Directly from You: Through forms for donations, volunteering, newsletters, or contacting us.
  • Automatically: Cookies and similar technologies track site usage to improve functionality (e.g., remembering preferences). You can manage cookies via browser settings.
  • From Partners: Limited data from service providers (e.g., email platforms) or collaborators like Aviator Home Health for coordinated care.

3. How We Use Your Information We use data solely to advance our mission:

  • Process donations and thank supporters.
  • Communicate updates, prayer needs, or volunteer opportunities.
  • Provide or coordinate care for seniors (e.g., matching volunteers or advocating for denied services).
  • Improve our website and services.
  • Comply with legal obligations (e.g., tax receipts for donors).
  • We never sell your data or use it for marketing unrelated to our nonprofit work.

4. Sharing Your Information We share data only when necessary:

  • Service Providers: Secure third parties for payments, email (e.g., Mailchimp), or analytics, bound by strict confidentiality.
  • Partners: With organizations like Aviator Home Health for skilled nursing/therapy referrals, only with your explicit consent.
  • Legal Requirements: If required by law (e.g., subpoenas) or to protect rights/safety.
  • Aggregated/Anonymous: For reports (e.g., "We served 100 seniors last year") without identifying individuals.
  • For international visitors, we comply with GDPR by obtaining consent where needed and ensuring transfers (e.g., to US servers) use safeguards like Standard Contractual Clauses.

5. Data Security and Retention

We protect data with industry-standard measures (e.g., encryption, access controls) but cannot guarantee absolute security. Information is retained only as long as needed for our purposes (e.g., donor records for 7 years per IRS rules) or legal requirements, then securely deleted.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have control over your data:

  • Access/Update/Delete: Request a copy, corrections, or deletion via [email/contact form].
  • Opt-Out: Unsubscribe from emails anytime; withdraw consent for processing.
  • Do Not Track: We honor browser signals where possible.
  • CCPA/GDPR Rights: California residents or EU/UK visitors can request disclosure, deletion, or opt-out of "sales" (we do not sell data). Submit requests to [info@carrythecrossfoundation.org]. We respond to verified requests within 30-45 days.

7. Cookies and Tracking Our site uses:

  • Essential Cookies: For basic functions (e.g., form submissions).
  • Analytics Cookies: To understand usage (you can opt out via tools like Google Analytics opt-out). For details, see our Cookie Policy [link if separate].
